Environment Indoor

Performing yoga poses suspended in soft fabric hammocks that support inversions, deepen stretches, and add a playful dimension of flight to a shared yoga practice.

The Essentials

  • Adjust the hammock so its lowest point sits around hip height when you stand next to it, giving you enough room to move without touching the floor.
  • Test the fabric's strength and the rigging point above it before trusting your full weight to it, and always practice under a qualified instructor when starting out.
  • Begin with grounded poses where the hammock supports only part of your body weight, such as sitting inside it with your feet still on the floor, before trying poses that lift you fully off the ground.
  • Move slowly and deliberately into each pose, using the hammock's fabric for support the same way you would use a yoga mat or wall, and breathe steadily throughout.
  • When inverting, such as hanging upside down, keep your core engaged and lower your head gently rather than letting it drop, since blood rushes to your head quickly in these poses.
  • Come out of inversions slowly and rest afterward, since sudden changes in position after being upside down can cause dizziness.
