Min duration 20 min.

Environment Indoor / Outdoor

Gentle yoga sequences designed for parent and baby together — combining stretches, poses, and playful interaction that promote flexibility, strengthen bonding, and cultivate calm.

The Essentials

Rules

  • Get medical clearance before starting, especially if you're postpartum, since most instructors require you to wait until after your 6-week postpartum checkup and won't let you join without it.
  • Never force a baby into a pose or stretch, since babies' joints and hip sockets are still developing and forcing movement can cause injury.
  • Follow the instructor's lead on baby-safe holds and positions rather than improvising your own, since certain holds that seem intuitive can actually strain a baby's neck or spine before they have full head control.
  • Stop or modify any pose immediately if your baby seems distressed, overstimulated, or uncomfortable, since the class is meant to be calming and a fussy baby signals it's time to pause.

Tips

  • Time the class around your baby's feeding and nap schedule, since a hungry or overtired baby will struggle to stay calm through the session regardless of how gentle the poses are.
  • Bring an extra layer and a light blanket for your baby, since babies lie still for parts of the class and can get cold faster than an actively moving adult.
  • Focus on connecting with your baby through eye contact and touch rather than achieving a perfect yoga pose, since the bonding and gentle movement matter more than pose precision at this stage.
  • Expect to modify or pause often, since babies have unpredictable moods and needs, and a class that flows smoothly one week may require constant adaptation the next.
