Transforming a plain baked cake into edible art — piping buttercream roses, laying smooth fondant, and adding handcrafted sugar flowers or hand-painted details that make any celebration's centrepiece truly unforgettable.
Start with a fully cooled cake — decorating a warm cake causes frosting to melt and slide. Apply a thin crumb coat of frosting first to seal in loose crumbs, then chill it briefly before adding the final, thicker layer for a clean finish. Use an offset spatula to spread frosting smoothly, turning the cake on a turntable if you have one for even coverage. Fill a piping bag fitted with your chosen tip, twist the top to control pressure, and practice basic piping shapes (dots, stars, shells, borders) on parchment paper before piping directly onto the cake. Keep decorations simple at first, building complexity as your control improves, and chill the finished cake briefly to help fine details set before serving.
Apply intricate temporary designs to skin using natural henna paste — a centuries-old tradition from South Asia and North Africa that turns hands and arms into living canvases.
Sign up to perform original music, comedy, poetry, or spoken word to a live audience in a café or bar — open mic nights lower the barrier to performing in public and build the courage to put your creative work in front of real people.
