Environment Indoor

A fast indoor team sport where players use curved sticks to pass and shoot a lightweight perforated ball into the opponent's goal — floorball combines hockey-style tactics with sneaker-friendly speed and almost no collision risk.

The Essentials

  • Teams of five players plus a goalkeeper try to score by shooting a light plastic ball into the opponent's goal with a curved stick.
  • You may only hold the stick with one hand above knee height — raising the blade above knee level or hacking at an opponent's stick is a common foul.
  • Games run in two or three periods of 15-20 minutes on a rink about the size of a handball court, with free substitutions at any time.
  • Unlike ice hockey there's no bodychecking — shoulder-to-shoulder contact is fine, but shoving, tripping, or blocking with your body draws a penalty.
  • Wear indoor court shoes with non-marking soles, since most halls ban footwear that scuffs the floor.
  • Beginners can join drop-in sessions at sports centers — regular sneakers and a borrowed stick are enough to try it.
