Rally a light ball across a table net with a small paddle — table tennis is fast, fun, and accessible anywhere, building reflexes, coordination, and competitive spirit in quick-fire matches for two or four.

The Essentials

How to play

  1. Stand at opposite ends of the table, split by a low net, and hit a lightweight ball back and forth using small paddles.
  2. Serve by tossing the ball up and hitting it so it bounces once on your side, then once on your opponent's side of the net.
  3. After the serve, players alternate hitting the ball directly (no extra bounce required) until someone fails to return it properly.
  4. A point ends when the ball bounces twice on one side, goes off the table, hits the net and doesn't cross, or is hit out of turn — the winner of the rally scores a point.
  5. Games are usually played to 11 points, and you must win by at least 2 points; serve alternates every 2 points.
  6. Win the match by taking the majority of games in a best-of-five or best-of-seven format.
