Filling a grid of numbers one logical deduction at a time — a compact, screen-free puzzle that fits in a pocket and absorbs attention through even the longest delay.

The Essentials

How to play

  1. The grid is 9×9 cells, divided into nine 3×3 boxes, with some cells already filled in as clues.
  2. Fill every empty cell with a digit from 1 to 9.
  3. Each digit can appear only once in every row.
  4. Each digit can appear only once in every column.
  5. Each digit can appear only once in every 3×3 box.
  6. Work by elimination — for each empty cell, figure out which digits are already ruled out by its row, column, and box, and start with cells that have the fewest possibilities. The puzzle is solved when every cell is filled and all three rules hold true.
