One player picks something visible nearby and says "I spy with my little eye, something that is..." followed by a clue, usually its color, while everyone else guesses what it is.

The Essentials

Rules

  • The spotter silently picks something they can see — inside the car, out the window, or in the room.
  • They say "I spy with my little eye, something that is..." and give one clue, most often the color.
  • The others take turns guessing what the object is, asking follow-up questions or just naming things they see that match the clue.
  • Whoever guesses correctly becomes the next spotter and picks a new object.

Tips

  • Great for very young kids since the clue (usually a color) needs no reading or spelling.
  • Pick something that stays visible for a while if you're playing from a moving car, not something you'll drive past in a second.
  • Add a second clue (like size or shape) if guessers get stuck.
  • Take turns being the spotter so everyone gets a chance to pick.
