Drive your herd of cattle from Texas to Kansas City, hiring cowboys, engineers, and builders along the trail — improving your deck and upgrading buildings to ship the most valuable cattle to score big.

The Essentials

  • Read the player aid card closely before your first game, since the icons for hiring workers, buying buildings, and moving cattle are dense and easy to misread early on.
  • Prioritize upgrading your player mat's hand and disc limits early, since a small hand of cattle cards or too few workers caps your options for the rest of the game.
  • Plan your route along the trail with the endgame scoring in mind, since buildings and hazards you pass shape your final points as much as delivering cattle does.
  • Don't ignore the railroad track, since spending workers there quietly builds points every round without competing for the same city spaces everyone else wants.
  • Watch what buildings other players are constructing, since a building you wanted to use yourself can vanish from the trail if someone else builds there first.
  • Expect the first game to run long, since the branching trail and multiple scoring paths take a full playthrough to understand well.
