Collect gem tokens to buy development cards that provide permanent gems — building an engine to afford ever-more valuable cards and nobles until you're the first to reach fifteen prestige points.

The Essentials

Rules

  • Collect gem tokens by taking them from the supply, then spend tokens to purchase development cards.
  • Purchased cards provide a permanent gem discount, letting you afford pricier cards over time.
  • Some cards also grant prestige points; the first player to reach 15 points triggers the final round.
  • You may take 3 different-colored tokens, 2 of the same color (if 4+ remain), or reserve a card for later.
  • After the final round completes, the player with the most prestige points wins.

Tips

  • Prioritize cheap early cards that unlock a color you'll need often, building your discount engine first.
  • Watch what colors your opponents are collecting so you can reserve a card that blocks their plan.
  • Don't hoard tokens past 10, since you must discard down to the limit at the end of your turn.
  • Track nobles' requirements early, since visiting one adds free prestige points once you meet their gem thresholds.
