The whole team must stand together on a shrinking sheet or towel, folded smaller after every round, forcing everyone to get creative about balance and teamwork to stay on board.

The Essentials

How to play

  1. Lay out a large sheet, towel, or tarp big enough for the whole team to stand on comfortably.
  2. Every team member must get both feet fully onto the sheet at the same time, with no one touching the ground around it.
  3. Once everyone is on and stable for a few seconds, fold the sheet in half (or roughly a third smaller) and have everyone get back on.
  4. Keep shrinking the sheet round by round; anyone who touches the floor outside the sheet means the whole team has to reset and try that size again.
  5. The game ends either when the team can't fit on the smallest fold anymore, or when you decide the size reached is impressively small enough to stop and celebrate.

Tips

  • Once the sheet gets small, taller or heavier teammates should go in first near the center, with lighter people distributing around and even being lifted piggyback-style near the end.
  • Do this on a soft surface (grass, gym mats, carpet) since people will inevitably wobble and fall off as the island shrinks.
  • Communicate a plan before each attempt rather than just piling on randomly — a few seconds of quick strategizing beats several failed resets.
  • Great for team building: it physically forces trust and problem-solving, and the shrinking size makes the challenge escalate naturally without needing to change any rules.
