The Essentials

Rules

  • Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded, even between shots.
  • Keep the muzzle pointed downrange at all times and your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
  • Wear the eye and ear protection provided before stepping onto the firing line.
  • Follow the range officer's commands immediately — they control when the line is hot or cold.
  • Never handle a firearm while anyone is downrange retrieving or checking targets.

Tips

  • Book an intro lesson with an instructor if it's your first time — most ranges offer one.
  • Rest your non-dominant hand under the grip for a steadier aim, and exhale slowly before squeezing the trigger.
