The Essentials

Rules

  • On your turn, either take a new good from the offer, use a building's action to process or produce goods, or feed your workers using food from your supply.
  • Every worker (round marker) must be fed at each feeding round or you take on debt, which costs victory points at the end.
  • Buildings let you process raw goods into refined ones, like grain into bread or wood into charcoal, and let you use rival players' buildings for a fee paid to them.
  • Ships let you carry goods for building tasks and can be built or upgraded using specific materials and money.
  • The game ends after a fixed number of rounds, and final scoring includes buildings, ships, money, and leftover goods.

Tips

  • Balance building your own production chain against feeding your workers each round, since starvation debt is costly.
  • Buy buildings early that convert raw goods into more valuable finished goods, since they compound in value over the game.
