Play giant monsters battling to dominate Tokyo — roll custom dice for energy, healing, attacks, and victory points, buying power cards to become the most fearsome creature and win the city.

The Essentials

Rules

  • On your turn, roll six dice up to three times, keeping any you want between rolls, like in Yahtzee.
  • Numbers 1, 2, and 3 need three matching dice to score that many victory points; claws deal damage to opponents; hearts heal you; lightning bolts earn energy cubes.
  • If you are in Tokyo, you deal damage to all other monsters, and they deal damage to only you.
  • After rolling claws, if you are outside Tokyo you may move into it, forcing whoever is there out; if you are inside, you may choose to stay and keep scoring points each turn.
  • Spend energy cubes on power cards to gain permanent or one-time special abilities.
  • A monster is eliminated when its health reaches zero, and the game ends when only one monster remains or someone reaches 20 victory points.

Tips

  • Weigh the risk of staying in Tokyo, since you score bonus points there but take damage from everyone else each round.
  • Buy power cards early when energy is cheap to snowball your strategy for later rounds.
  • Watch opponents' health and victory points, since attacking the leader is often smarter than chasing easy points.
  • Reroll dice with a clear goal in mind rather than keeping whatever looks good at first glance.
  • Balance offense and defense; a monster with high health can afford to stay in Tokyo longer for the points.
