Cookbook Challenge

Cookbook Challenge

Min number of participants 2
Age 12+ yrs.
Safety support by adult Not required
Min duration 1.5 h
Cost Low
Environment Indoor

Selecting a cookbook together and cooking through it recipe by recipe, expanding your kitchen repertoire, sharing chopping duties, and sitting down to enjoy the results every week.

The Essentials

  • Pick a cookbook with a clear structure (by chapter, cuisine, or skill level) so you can work through it in a logical order
  • Read the whole recipe before shopping, since some cookbooks assume techniques or equipment that need advance prep
  • Cook recipes roughly in the order given, since many cookbooks build skills or use overlapping ingredients as you progress
  • Take a photo of each finished dish and jot a quick note on what worked, to build a personal record as you go
  • Allow a repeat night for a recipe you loved, rather than treating the challenge as strictly one-and-done
