The Essentials

How to play

  1. Print or hand out a 5x5 bingo card where each square has a different fun fact or experience, like "has run a marathon," "speaks 3+ languages," or "was born in another country."
  2. Give everyone a card and a pen, then set them loose to mingle.
  3. For each square, find a person in the room who matches the fact, ask them to confirm it, and have them sign or initial that square.
  4. The same person can only sign one square on your card, so keep moving and talking to new people.
  5. The first person to complete a full row, column, or diagonal (or the whole card, depending on the rule you pick) shouts "Bingo!" and wins.

Tips

  • Mix easy facts ("has a pet") with rarer ones ("has run a marathon") so the game has both quick wins and genuine conversation-starters.
  • Encourage people to actually chat for a moment rather than just asking yes/no and moving on — the point is learning something real about a colleague.
  • If the room is small, require signing more than one square per conversation to keep things moving.
  • Great for team building: it's a low-pressure way for people who don't normally talk to end up in a real conversation, especially useful for new hires or mixed departments.
